Believe it or not, the custom of having the obligation of kissing when caught under the mistletoe came from Scandinavia. It is the plant of peace, and the story goes that if enemies met by chance in the forest where there was mistletoe in the canopy overhead, they would lay down their arms and maintain a truce until the next day.
